Position: Part-Time Attorney – Gig Worker Advocacy & Court Representation

Employment Type: Part-Time / Contract

Location: Washington, DC / DMV Area – Hybrid with Court Travel Required

Our subsidiary company, Gig Restart Solutions, assists independent contractors and gig-economy workers who have been deactivated or removed from platforms such as Uber and Lyft. We help drivers understand their options, prepare their cases, and pursue appropriate remedies when platform deactivation has resulted in lost income or other damages.

We are seeking a motivated Part-Time Attorney to assist our clients with legal matters involving rideshare and gig-platform deactivations. This position is ideal for an attorney interested in gaining hands-on litigation, negotiation, and courtroom experience while working a flexible part-time schedule.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in court proceedings involving Uber, Lyft, and other gig-platform disputes.
• Attend small claims and other appropriate civil court hearings on behalf of clients when legally permitted.
• Prepare clients for court appearances, hearings, and settlement discussions.
• Draft and review complaints, motions, demand letters, settlement documents, and other legal filings.
• Review driver deactivation notices, independent-contractor agreements, platform communications, screenshots, earnings records, and other evidence.
• Evaluate claims involving alleged wrongful deactivation, breach of contract, lost income, and related disputes.
• Develop case strategies and identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential defenses.
• Negotiate potential settlements when appropriate.
• Conduct legal research involving independent contractors, arbitration provisions, contract disputes, and gig-economy matters.
• Maintain organized case files and communicate case developments to Gig Restart Solutions.
• Assist with other legal and government-contracting matters as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active attorney license and authorization to practice in the jurisdiction(s) where representation will occur.
• Newer attorneys and attorneys seeking additional courtroom experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong legal research, writing, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Comfortable appearing in court and communicating directly with clients.
• Ability to independently manage assigned cases and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to courthouses throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area as assignments require.

Schedule

This is a part-time, flexible position . Hours will vary depending on caseload and scheduled court appearances. Some work may be completed remotely; however, in-person courthouse appearances and local travel are required.

Compensation

Hourly or per-case compensation, based on experience, licensing, and responsibilities. Court-related travel reimbursement may be provided when applicable.
