Job Description

Interventional Nephrologist – Atlanta, GA

Position Summary

Preferred Vascular Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Interventional Nephrologist to join our growing team of vascular specialists throughout the Atlanta market. This is an exceptional opportunity for a physician passionate about providing comprehensive vascular access care to patients with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease in a state-of-the-art outpatient setting.

The Interventional Nephrologist will play a critical role in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of dialysis access dysfunction through minimally invasive procedures designed to preserve and restore vascular access. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering patient-centered care while collaborating closely with nephrologists, dialysis providers, and referring physicians throughout the region.

About Us

Preferred Vascular Group is one of the most patient-focused healthcare organizations in the country—a network of physicians, caregivers, and executives focused exclusively on vascular care. Our team believes that excellence in treating vascular disorders demands a patient-focused, hands-on, full-time commitment, and because our people live and work in the communities we serve, patients are cared for by neighbors who know them.

The result is advanced vascular care delivered in a convenient outpatient setting—often at significant cost savings compared to the same procedure performed in a hospital. Our integrated model allows physicians to focus on delivering exceptional outcomes while benefiting from experienced clinical support, operational excellence, and a robust referral network.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease requiring vascular access interventions.
  2. Perform minimally invasive procedures including angioplasty, thrombectomy, stent placement, catheter exchanges, tunneled dialysis catheter placement, and fistulograms.
  3. Assess and maintain arteriovenous fistulas and grafts to ensure optimal dialysis access function.
  4. Collaborate with nephrologists, dialysis centers, vascular surgeons, and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  5. Interpret diagnostic imaging studies related to vascular access and peripheral vascular disease.
  6. Develop individualized treatment plans and educate patients regarding treatment options and access maintenance.
  7. Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes, access preservation, and operational efficiency.
  9. Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians, dialysis providers, and community stakeholders.
  10. Stay current with advancements in interventional nephrology, vascular access management, and related technologies.

Qualifications

  1. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship.
  3. Completion of Interventional Nephrology training preferred.
  4. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology.
  5. Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Georgia.
  6. Demonstrated experience performing vascular access procedures and image-guided interventions.
  7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to patient-centered care.
  8. Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  9. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  10. Dedication to clinical excellence, quality improvement, and professional development.

Compensation & Benefits

  1. Competitive base salary with productivity incentives
  2. Partnership and ownership opportunities available
  3. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage
  4. Retirement plan options with employer contributions
  5. Paid time off, holidays, and CME days
  6. CME allowance and professional development support
  7. Malpractice insurance coverage
  8. Relocation assistance and signing bonus available for qualified candidates
  9. Established referral network and dedicated clinical support staff

Schedule & Call

  1. Full-time position
  2. Monday through Friday schedule
  3. Minimal call responsibilities
  4. Outpatient-focused practice with no hospital rounding requirements
  5. Collaborative team environment supporting work-life balance
